Teaching Happiness

Every parent has the goal in life to give their children happiness.

We want our children to thrive,

and live in a world,

without fear,

and disappointments.

We want our children to live happy lives.

But I heard something today that hit me.

It's not our job to follow our children around every single day,

making sure everything runs right in their world,

ensuring that happiness occurs.

That's impossible,

especially for the working parent.

Our job, as parents, needs to be,

showing our children how to face hardships,

adversity,

disappointments,

and basically life.

We need to show them,

that things aren't always going to go the way we want,

but we need to accept change and move forward with our lives.

Our role as parents,

is not to ensure our kids are happy.

It's to prepare them to find their own happiness.

So at the end of the day,

it's okay to let our children fail.

They will learn how to cope when things don't go as expected,

and gain the self confidence to try new things!
